Eleanor studied Biological Sciences at Queen's University, Belfast. She completed the Open University Flexible PGCE in Science in 2010 whilst working as a science technician in Glenlola Collegiate School, where she also ran the school Astronomy Club. A keen amateur astronomer, Eleanor is both a council member of the Irish Astronomical Association and their Schools and Education officer. In this capacity, Eleanor helps to organise and run public outreach events.

Since qualifying as a teacher, Eleanor has been teaching GCSE Astronomy, running Astronomy themed workshops and events for local primary schools, and delivering talks and CPD on GCSE Astronomy for teachers.

Eleanor currently teaches A Level Biology, GCSE Astronomy, Biology and Single Award Science at Belfast High School, Newtownabbey.
