Space Science is one of the fastest growing industries in the UK. We need our young people to engage in multidisciplinary activities related to space. The National Space Academy Lead Educator role is key to engaging teachers and students for a future in space.

A-levels: Biology, Physics and Chemistry. Lee has a BSc(Hons) in Astrobiology (Microbiology and Virology) and a PGCE from Warwick University. Lee has been teaching since 1991.

At work...
Lee is a Deputy Head Teacher (Vice Principal). He has been prevalent within the Space and Science communities, where he worked as a National Secondary Strategy Science Consultant. He has also run an Astronaut Academy specialism (which is project based learning for KS3) and has developed a number of space science programmes for KS1-KS4. A KS2-KS3 numeracy bridging project he developed was based around a proposed ESA/NASA Europa Mission.

Lee also teaches computer science where he embeds space science into coding, web development, robotics and image/sound analysis.

Lee works with Leicester and Loughborough Universities in supporting students entering Initial Teacher Training.

We asked Lee...

Given the chance, would you go to space?
Yes...of course I would. Most of the students in my school seem to think that I have. The closest I have been was on the vomit comet in the USA (a 30th Birthday present)

What's the best thing about science?
Asking questions and finding out that the answers just lead to more questions!

What's the best thing about working at the National Space Academy?
Working with all age ranges across the whole country and sharing the message that space science is an exciting, engaging and relevant subject.
