There are lots of career options and routes, as we discuss with young people at our career conferences each year.

Lorna studied English, Art and Biology at A Level, has a Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage and is a trained Phlebotomist! She is now an Administrator with the National Space Academy.

At the office

Before joining the National Space Academy, Lorna worked in Events and Crew at the National Space Centre. As a member of the Events team Lorna organised and facilitated events, parties, dinners and conferences at the National Space Centre. As a member of Crew, Lorna was the first contact for visitors; she was an expert on the Centre galleries and hosting shows in the planetarium. This, and Lorna's breadth of experience in customer service means that she is an important part of the National Space Academy team!

Lorna organises our busy diary and manages bookings; from masterclasses and careers events to team meetings and VIP visits. She also builds relationships with key stakeholders.

Away from the office

Lorna enjoys spending time with her daughter; whose favourite book happens to be The Darkest Dark by astronaut Chris Hadfield.

We asked Lorna...

Given the chance, would you go to space?
I think I'd probably be too scared! But I like that there may be an opportunity for those who want to in the future.

What's the best thing about science?
There is always something new to learn.

What's the best thing about working at the National Space Academy?
Every day is different!
