At work...
Based in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, Chris has a long track record in teaching and in senior leadership positions in schools and sixth form colleges. Chris has used his experience of teaching biology and environmental science, together with a lifelong interest in space science to produce numerous resources for National Space Academy biology masterclasses.

Chris has also been heavily involved in national rocketry projects taking a group of students to the finals of the UK Aerospace Youth Rocketry Challenge (UKAYRoC) in 2009 and to the frontiers of space with a high altitude weather balloon in 2015. A strong believer in the importance of high quality STEM education for all, Chris has delivered on international CPD training programmes for ESA and our flagship programme of teacher training and student masterclasses in China.

Break time...
"I am a qualified pilot and used to fly light aircraft before I bought a house and acquired a mortgage...these days I spend my spare time running (I enjoy and compete in 10k and half marathon distance races) and doing kitchen science experiments with my own children!"

We asked Chris...

Given the chance, would you go to space?
I'd love to for a short visit, but only if I could come back to Earth again!

What's the best thing about science?
It gives us the ability to understand the universe without the need for supernatural explanation. The human race would still be living in caves without science.

What's the best thing about working at the National Space Academy?
Inspiring students and getting them to consider a new way of looking at the world around them
