Space to Learn - Teacher Twilight CPD

190208 University Of Leicester PGCE Ogden 099 Lowres

Building on over 15 years of excellence in space education and curriculum linked learning, the National Space Academy is proud to offer this 2-hour twilight CPD for teachers of science at KS3 and 4 (and regional equivalents).

We will showcase a range of demos and hands on activities that you can do with your students, and explicitly link these to the curriculum through imaginative narratives that will bring the classroom science alive through the context of space.

Delivered by one of our Space Advocates – who are outstanding teachers of physics seconded to the project, these sessions are totally accessible to non-physics specialists.

They are designed to:

  • Reinforce your own physics understanding
  • Tackle common misconceptions
  • Provide you with cheap, easy activities that you will be able to embed within your own learning schemes
  • Showcase effective narrative teaching using current exciting space missions
  • Enable you to discuss a range of space careers with your students

Topics explored include:

  • Energy
  • Forces
  • Orbits

And Depending on your advocate may also include:

  • Astronomy
  • Waves and light
