Steffan Tudor yn CERN 2Steffan Tudor, a Welsh lead educator for the National Space Academy, is the first teacher from Wales to be selected for a prestigious three-week summer school at CERN in Switzerland.

Steffan, who has just returned from his stay at CERN, is the Head of Physics at welsh-medium school Ysgol Glan Clwyd, Llanelwy, St Asaph.  Steffan has spent his time at CERN listening to lectures, by some of the world's most accomplished experts, discussing the findings of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) project and looking in-depth into some of the worlds most cutting edge experiements. In February 2015, Steffan also took a sixth form group on a visit to CERN.

When asked about the course, Steffan said: "I feel very, very excited because it is such a special place. It really is the top scientific establishment in the world and it just inspires you. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity."

As a National Space Academy lead educator, Steffan is in a unique position to take the opportunity and share his new knowledge with teachers across Wales and the UK.

Steffan's selection was recognised by Minister for Education and Skills Huw Lewis as quoted in Wales Online.  The importance of studying science in Wales was also emphasised by Welsh CERN scientist Dr Lyn Evans as the most recent A-level results for Wales were announced.
