ChrisCarr220The National Space Academy is extremely pleased to announce that Chris Carr, Lead Educator and biology teacher at the John Leggott College in Scunthorpe, has been awarded the level of National Expert STEM Teacher.

Awarded through the Teacher and Support Staff Recognition Scheme by the Science Learning Centre, it is a tremendous honour and highlights the dedication by Chris to developing himself, his students and other teachers.

To be named as a National Expert STEM Teacher, Chris had to show evidence for delivering CPD (Continued Professional Development) such as those run by the National Space Academy, both regionally and nationally. He also had to be identified as consistently excelling at teaching, as well as demonstrating his impact on both students and his peers.

Andy McMurray, Head of Teaching and Learning at the National Space Academy said:

Chris has been an outstanding Lead Educator over a number of years for the National Space Academy. The students and teachers who have attended his sessions have greatly benefitted from Chris's knowledge and expertise.  This award is a well deserved recognition for the skills and commitment to education Chris has shown.

On receiving the award Chris said:

It's been a privilege for me to work at both the National Space Academy and John Leggott College. I feel honored to receive this award but also humbled to have worked alongside so many fantastic teachers and to have taught such a great range of students. I love my job and I hope to keep raising the profile of science for many years to come.
