The British Council and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation have created a new pack for teachers ahead of Russia's Science Week in Schools (23 - 27 October). This week is a designed to be a nationwide celebration of science and technology, and is part of the wider UK-Russia Year of Science and Education 2017.
The pack draws on content created by the British Science Association and ENGAGE, a European Union funded project led by Sheffield Hallam University, as well as the National Space Academy's own Astro Academy: Principia resources featuring British ESA astronaut Tim Peake.
Dr Kierann Shah, the Academy's General Manager said:
"We are delighted to see the teacher guides and videos we worked on with Tim Peake, the UK Space Agency, and European Space Agency, being picked up by educators in other countries. It shows that the British Council Russia's science and education teams see the project as a useful educational tool, and I hope that it means even more teachers will find out about it and use it in their lessons."
Adrian Fenton, Science Adviser for Public Engagement and STEM Education at the British Council, said:
"We are excited to be sharing the Astro Academy: Principia resources with Russia as part of their Science Week in Schools since the creative resources with real footage of Tim Peake bring a new, investigative dimension to the topic of space exploration. The topic genuinely brings together different cultures through education, something that is central to the British Council's aims."
