Moon Rescue Book

The National Space Academy has created an exciting new multi path storybook that can be used easily in the classroom, through learning at home or simply for reading enjoyment. The book can be explored collaboratively in a group activity for up to five readers or as a stand along experience. This makes is accessible for a wide range of reading environments. The book can be read as a group within one hour.

What is the book about?

Six teenagers from around the globe are selected to form the prestigious International Space Academy. Their journey takes them to the moon to work on the moon base. Here the teenagers spend time working with adult crew members and discover a range of careers working in space. However, something isn't quite right. The adult crew members rely on their brain implant chips to help communicate with each other and access information. When the teenagers suddenly realise there is something wrong with all of the crew members, the young team must work together quickly to uncover out what is happening and save the adults from a mystery threat!

How should the book be read as a group?

  • Chapter 1 -  Read Together.  The opening chapter is designed to be read aloud as a group, setting the scene and introducing the mission
  • Chapter 2 -Choose Your Character. Each reader selects one of the character sections to follow (up to five options). If you are working with a group larger than five, more than one person can read the same character section.
  • Chapter 3 - Re-join as a Team. Everyone comes back together to read the shared chapter, bringing all their character knowledge into the mission.
  • Chapter 4 - Choose Your Ending.  As a group, decide which ending you’d like to explore and read it together to complete the mission.

How should the book be read independently?

  • Chapter 1 – Start the Story. Begin by reading the opening chapter. This section introduces the characters, sets up the mission, and prepares you for the choices ahead.
  • Chapter 2 – Choose Your Character. Select one of the character storylines to follow. After finishing the entire book, you are welcome to return to Chapter 2 and read the remaining character sections one by one. By exploring every character’s perspective, you’ll gather insight in what happened with the other characters.
  • Chapter 3 – Bring the Clues Together. Once you’ve read a character path from chapter 2, move on to the shared chapter. This is where everything starts to connect, and the mystery becomes clearer.
  • Chapter 4 – Choose Your Ending. Finally, select which ending you’d like to read. Each one gives you a different way to complete the mission based on the clues you've gathered.

What age group is the book aimed at?

The age range the book has been written for is 9-13 years old. The whole text is accessible to the full
age group. However, chapters 2C – Astronaut: Kamari,  and 2D – Engineer: Devon are a little more challenging than the other three characters.
