Jake Morton
Regional Project Officer for Yorkshire and the North East

Jake Morton is our Regional Project Officer for Yorkshire and the North East. He'll be working on our Space to Learn programme. Jake is based at the International Centre for Life in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
I grew up in Yorkshire and now live in the North East with my cat. I studied geology and palaeontology at university and have been working in science communication for almost a decade. For the last 6 years I have been based at the International Centre for Life in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. I’ve also worked in outdoor education for the North Pennines Geopark, and regularly volunteer with a local geology outreach group to share my love of fossils at science festivals. Outside of work I enjoy board games, cooking, gardening, and exploring the outdoors (usually coming home with pockets full of rocks!)"
Would I go to space?
I love space, but travelling to it isn’t for me. There’s still so much left to discover here on planet Earth that I’ll happily leave space exploration to the robots and astronauts!
