National Space Academy Regional Project Officer

The National Space Academy provides education programmes, continuing professional development sessions (CPD) and careers events, designed to support schools’ curricula in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) using space as the inspirational context. This ground-breaking initiative combines world class expertise in space science and climate science at leading universities and companies in the UK with a network of outstanding teachers to provide engaging and effective STEM interventions nationally and internationally.

The National Space Academy has received a grant to deliver a programme of free intensive and interactive activities within the UK Space Agency’s ‘Space to Learn’ project. A National Space Academy Regional Project officer is sought to join the team during maternity cover period. The Regional Project officer will manage the project’s activities within their region; Scotland and N. Ireland, as well as support the existing Regional Project Officers in their regions. This role includes recruiting schools onto masterclasses and managing the delivery of space camps and careers events.

The two other regions are North England/West Midlands/Wales and South/Eastern England. This role will be based at the National Space Centre in Leicester. The candidate will be expected to visit their region and around the UK leading/supporting events. This exciting role will require the motivation to ensure that targets are met at agreed milestones. 

The successful candidate must have a willingness to learn the job quickly as the role is demanding. There will be a handover period with the current job holder.

35 Hours per week.

Maternity cover, fixed-term. 13th May 2024 – 10th January 2025

Circa £26,000 – £28,000, depending upon skills and experience
