PPG Industries are a global paintings and coatings company who own a number of smaller companies and brands. Their UK operation is PPG Architectural Coatings UK Ltd, which has the key brands of Johnstone's, Leyland and Fat Hog. They have two manufacturing plants, one in Birstall, near Batley, and one in Morley, near Leeds, in Yorkshire.

PPG has a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility, for example donating the materials to renew and redecorate Batley station in 2016 as part of its "colourful communities" work. Thanks to this ethos and the enthusiasm of individual PPG staff the PPG Chemistry Education Project has been set up, using donations from PPG to create bursaries for more schools to have the chance to access National Space Academy masterclasses. These masterclasses use space contexts to tackle the curriculum in areas that are key for PPG's work: colour and materials.

Thanks to sponsorship from PPG we are offering £300 bursaries for schools towards one of our Masterclasses for 10 - 14 year olds - find out more here.
