Our link with the Space Academy has helped us to raise the profile, not just of science, (the whole science faculty has been described as “spaced up”) but of STEM subjects right across the school. Our outreach work now all has a space flavour and our reputation now precedes us when we work with local primary schools. Uptake of triple science is very encouraging and numbers at A level has gone up significantly; we’re particularly pleased to have enlisted more girls on to the A level physics course.
