The National Space Academy team offer a wide range of programmes and careers events at The National Space Centre and at RAL Space and the Satellite Applications Catapult in Harwell, as well as ‘in school’ programmes at your school.

Masterclass and CPD booking information

The National Space Centre

The centre has a large coach car park and disabled facilities.  Make your way to the main entrance where you will be greeted and taken to our dedicated teaching laboratory where the session will take place.  As part of the experience you will see one of the centre's incredible 360 degree dome planetarium shows and a chance to explore the captivating exhibitions within the galleries (full day masterclasses and CPDs only).  Lunch is not provided for masterclasses however we have a restaurant where you will be able to purchase food and drink (excluding Mondays during Leicester school term).

There are two suggested venues at the Harwell Campus where masterclasses and CPD sessions can be held, both will require you to provide a full list of the names of students and teachers attending for security purposes prior to your visit. Lunch is not provided for masterclasses at either venue but there is a cafe in the Satellite Applications building, and a canteen a short walk from RAL Space where you can purchase lunch.

Satellite Applications Catapult
There is parking directly outside of the SA Catapult building.  On arrival at SA Catapult please report to the reception, from where you will be directed to the teaching room.  As well as the course you will also have the chance to explore the facilities at SA Catapult, including the high definition video wall, used for visualising satellite data.

RAL Space
On arrival at Harwell, visitors to RAL Space need to report to the main reception building.  Here you will be given your security passes and directed to parking within the secure site as well as to RAL Space itself. As part of the day you will be shown the satellite testing and ground station facilities at RAL Space.

In School

A masterclass or CPD session taking place at your school in the comfort of your own classroom will save time travelling long distances and will reduce the cost of transport. One of our outstanding Lead Educators will visit your school and provide an inspirational Academy course.  The Lead Educator will bring most of the equipment for the course with them so you won't need to purchase expensive kits.

"Wow, mind-blowing! The students spent the whole day being inspired and challenged" Jane Shearer, Head of Biology, Sir Jonathon North Community College
